The whole is greater than the sum of its parts – no band illustrates this notion better than The Rescues. When Kyler England, AG, and Gabriel Mann – three accomplished singer-songwriters in their own right – joined forces, they quickly became hometown favorites at Los Angeles’ legendary proving ground, The Hotel Café. After 5 of their songs were featured on Grey’s Anatomy in one season and the outpouring of love for the band online, The Rescues signed to Universal Republic Records, where they released their 2010 album Let Loose the Horses to critical acclaim from NPR to iTunes to fans alike.
The Rescues are known for their transcendent live performances, breathtaking harmonies, unforgettable, moving songs, and inexplicable chemistry. In 2021, Pentatonix covered their enchanting and timeless a cappella song, “My Heart With You,” making it a staple on their tours as a show-stopping encore. The Rescues’ songs have soundtracked memorable moments all over film and television, and the band has continued to release records and play sold-out shows for over a decade.
As individual musicians, The Rescues members have made significant strides in virtually every corner of the music industry. Theme songs, DJ collabs, sync placements, song production, mixing, and composing for film and television, with Emmy nominations and Grammy awards to boot. A few of the many artists they’ve worked with: Sara Bareilles, Tiesto, Indigo Girls, Christina Perri, Colin Hay, Olivia Rodrigo, and Lisa Loeb. They’ve also shared the stage with the likes of Sting, Katy Perry, Annie Lennox, Liz Phair, Alanis Morrisette, Adele, and the list goes on.
The Rescues’ music harkens back to a time when friends got together and wrote songs about things that mattered. “A lot of people compare our music to the lyrical and vocal traditions of The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. We feel like the world needs that kind of music: singable, emotional, indispensable,” Mann says. “Individually, we couldn’t be more different,” says AG. “Yet we are moved by the same things. I think that’s why it works.” Adds England, “There’s this magical thing that happens when we write and sing together that has only deepened and grown with the years. It’s been the creative gift of a lifetime.”
Currently, The Rescues are composing the score and songs for a stage musical directed by Tony-winner Michael Arden.
